RATIONAL
STATEMENT
Millions
of people in the world live in impoverished third world countries.
They live in poverty with no hope for tomorrow. Many of these people
will not have adequate nutrition, shelter, education, or vocational/technical
skills to ensure a better life. At Partners of Hope, we understand
that God’s Word calls us “To impact the world with the
truth of Jesus Christ. To reach out to a lost and dying world, treating
body, mind, soul, and spirit.” Networking spiritual and business
leaders together, in cooperation with their government leaders gives
us the ability to greatly increase our impact. “Where two or
three are gathered in my name...” (Matthew 18:20).
MOTIVATION
Partners
of Hope International was formed for the purpose of bringing Christians
with the skills, talents, and resources together so that can make a
lasting difference in the nations of the world.
POHI works in cooperation with spiritual, business, and political
leaders of a nation to bring together the appropriate skills, talents,
and resources that are necessary to address the most pressing needs
of that nation.
THE BEGINNING
In the wake of Hurricane Mitch (October 1998), Pastor Lonnie Johns
of Christ Central (Lake City, Florida) sent Threasa Hysell, R.N. in
February of 1999 (under the leadership of Allen Skelton of White Fields
Missions) to Honduras to assist with hurricane relief. Omega Medical
Missions was birthed from that trip and has partnered with White Fields
Missions in over 40 Medical Missions.
Honduras is the second poorest country in Latin America (next to Haiti).
It has 7.3 million people, 27% live on $1.00 per a day, and 53% live
below the poverty line. A total of 384,832 children and adolescents
between the ages of 5-18 are forced to work, HIV/Aids has become a
serious threat among people ages 15-25 and there are 7,000-10,000 homeless
children.
The people and conditions of Honduras deeply affected Pastor Lonnie
John’s heart, and then God birthed a vision for the country.
In October 2003, he directed Threasa Hysell to plan a 7 day trip
in Honduras. The purpose of the trip was to make contact with the
spiritual fathers, the business and government leaders to discuss
the needs for their country. Through a series of events and God ordained
meetings for Pastor Lonnie Johns and Threasa Hysell to meet with
all three types of leaders. They were very interested in sharing
ideas and offering assistance.
During this trip, Pastor Lonnie met Pastor Misael Argenal of La Cochea
Ministries, San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The two men knew immediately
that God was working and agreed to partner together in their efforts
to help the people of Honduras. Pastor Misael serves as the Honduranian
President of the organization and Pastor Lonnie Johns serves as the
North American President for Partners of Hope International. The trip
climaxed with meeting the Primera Dama de Honduras (First Lady), Aguas
Ocana Maduro, who shared her heart and vision for the children.
Today, Partners of Hope International is reaching across the globe
as we network with ministries, government and business leaders to bring
hope to the nations. We have orphanages in the Philippines and in Honduras.
Omega Medical teams conduct 6-7 medical trips per year, and construction
teams go regularly constructing orphanages and support ministries across
the world. The primary goal for POHI is to share the love of Jesus
in other nations. We also develop logistic, financial, and technical
support to fill the void where institutional programs end and heartfelt
care-giving begins.
