OMEGA
MEDICAL MISSIONS
Omega Medical Missions was founded in 1999 following a medical trip
to Honduras which had been ravaged by Hurricane Mitch in October
1998. The Medical Teams are made up of volunteer doctors, nurses,
dentists, as well as laypersons and non-medical individuals who reach
out to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of children and
families in developing countries.
50 plus trips later, Omega Medical Missions has taken over 5 million
dollars in medicines to underprivileged countries and treated over
100,000 adults and children. OMM has coordinated dental care for
over 2,500 patients and life-saving (changing) surgery has been performed
on over 100 adults and children. Eyeglasses have been distributed
to more than 6,500 people; 20,000 people have been feed…staving
off the painful, hopeless feeling of an empty stomach.
Every person that is treated at an Omega Medical Clinic is offered
the plan of salvation on an individual basis. Medicine is an excellent
tool used to bring people of all nations to the knowledge of Jesus
Christ. More than 10,000 souls have been won to Jesus through this
ministry. Lives have been physically saved and souls eternally won!
Omega Medical Missions has become part of the Partners of Hope International
network to better enable its effectiveness. Omega Medical Missions
continues to serve thru medical clinics across the globe.
Dr. David Sauls is the Medical Director for Partners of Hope International.
Five to six medical trips are planned each year. During a medical
mission OMM offers medical services, dental, eye glasses, evangelism,
spiritual and pharmacy clinics through the following:
- Clinics are set up in a different village each day where local
schools, churches or community buildings house the temporary clinics;
- Basic physical assessment and diagnosis is made to patients;
- Proper medication or treatment is prescribed;
- Prescriptions are filled in our mobile pharmacy free of charge
to the patient;
- Reading glasses are fitted from the stock of donated glasses,
again at no charge to the patient;
- Dental teams treat the tremendous dental needs of the community
(when dentists are available);
- Food is distributed by the team to families;
- Candy and toys are distributed for the children;
- Bibles are dispensed in the spiritual clinic;
- Each summer team, the youth that are part of the team hold Bible
School or some other activity for the children on-site each day.
